Hi Ladies, trust you are all settling back into work after school holidays/winter breaks.
I swear I’ve seen more of some of you on Facebook than ever in the last month – lots of photos on beaches – makes it kind of hard for a girl to concentrate on her work! Still, I can’t complain too much as I’m heading to Fiji for a weeks R&R at the end of August and will be posting the obligatory gloaty photos myself!
So what have I been up to since you heard from me?
Well, Venus, for the very first time since I took over has a proper, grown-up office. Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s I can be found at my office thanks to Jo Pilkington from First Scene who kindly offered Venus her spare office. It’s wonderful, I get workmates and all the mod cons of an office without the huge overhead. Venus also has a lot of stock in the form of member handbooks, magazines, pens, Academy workbooks, brochures etc so its given me the opportunity to have all those laid out, making it easier to keep an eye on stock levels, also things like couriering have all of a sudden become easier and more cost effective.
You will have been aware from the Facebook post I now have a little help at HQ in the form of Anna Beverley. Anna has come on board for 5 hrs a week to do all those little things that make all the difference but swallow up time I don’t have. She’s going to be running the day to day side of running the Academy off me, couriering out workbooks, managing Eventbrite, sending out new member packs, helping out with social media posts …. And anything else I can throw at her!

Venus Training Academy
Our workshops continue in most regions with ‘Seal the Deal’ our sales training workshop successfully running in Auckland, Wellington and Tauranga. We have a repeat Seal the Deal workshop being organised in Wellington due to demand and I’m running Keys to Succesful Marketing in Auckland and the Hawkes Bay over the next month.
We are programming our Business Planning workshop in most regions for the last couple of months of 2018; this is a good one to do in preparation for Summer School and a fantastic 2019. If you’re keen to find out any more drop me an email.
All the detail about what is on where can be found via the Eventbrite tag on the website, it will show you what is going on where. You have two options for payment, either full payment up front or 50% deposit and then 50% seven days before the workshop.

The Venus Training Academy is there to run group training in an environment that sees you alongside other women who are looking for the same learning and advice. It’s very much about the learning alongside like-minded women in a supportive environment. If you’re looking for a specialist or one on one training talk to us and we’ll recommend you someone in the network.

Venus Networking
Member Success and Power Hour, as well as Collaborative Teams, is also being run by the VRM’s and Academy coaches nationwide over the next couple of months.
Additionally for those who are unable to get to one of these we have started running them via Zoom. We’ve run two thus far and both have been very successful and well received by members. It’s another way to learn and network, albeit with women from all over NZ.
You guys are obviously out singing Venus’s praises as our ‘registrations of interest’ are going up significantly, that and I think the sponsored posts and interest in the NZ Businesswomen’s Conference is raising Venus’s profile (I love it when a cunning plan comes together!)
Free Month
I want to encourage you to refer Venus to the women you do business with. The power of the community is the community and as we grow and change our ability to work alongside, help and collaborate with one another increases as well. The more of us that there are, the more we can support, encourage and motivate one another step up and run amazing businesses.

Venus Magazine
The next magazine is due out in November, we already have the lead article sorted, along with a couple of other submissions but if you have an idea drop me an email. Some of the advertising spots are also gone so if you’re keen on advertising in the magazine, please also get in touch. This magazine will be sent additionally to all attendees of the NZ Businesswomen’s Conference as well as our sponsors and exhibitors so the reach this time around will be a little wider. NZ Business Women’s Conference
FRIDAY 26 AND SATURDAY 27 OCTOBER!
Only about 12 weeks to go now! As much as it’s a lot of work organising this I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas morning – it’s going to be like a Venus meeting on steroids!
The conference is all about you our members. I want to provide something more to you over and above your networking and training and development.
The main thrust of the conference is to showcase Venus as a business and raise the profile of Venus to businesswomen and in the business community as a whole. We, and by default, you don’t want to be a secret in the business world in NZ. As we raise the profile of Venus that will have a positive impact on the community as a whole.
20 amazing speakers and 6 workshops over two days. Full conference tickets are $485 (GST inclusive) and cover the whole two days as well as dinner/drinks and networking on the Friday night, lunch, morning and afternoon teas on both days, with the Sunday lunch being a long lunch to wind conference down. You also have the option of day two only or dinner and networking only.
Additionally, we have an exhibition area where businesses will be able to promote themselves, I’ve approached some members who I have thought this would work for but if this is something you’re interested in, please get in touch.
If you haven’t already please go and like the NZ Businesswomen’s FB page and spread the word far and wide for me. We do have a PR plan, but I’d appreciate any help getting the word out to the broader business world.
